All right a while back I made a topic about my job status and it was suggested to me that I ask my boss to see what higher up positions were available in the company. So on Friday, I finally got the time and courage to ask if there were any possible opportunities of advancement. What I was told was that there wasn't anything at the moment but in the coming months as the company grows, there could be new positions opening up and that I would be on the top of the list for consideration. My boss couldn't really give a definite answer on this. There was no guarantee. He also told me if I was thinking about doing something different from what I'm currently doing, I should suggest it and maybe we'll see if there is a fit somewhere. Well at least I asked. Now I have to determine whether or not I should look for a new job? By the way, this is the original thread
Sounds like a very positive discussion! Your boss told you that you are valued ("...I would be on the top of the list..."), and that he wants to keep you in the company, and that he is open to suggestions and helping you find the job you want. Winning.
Yes, he also did mention that whether or not I noticed, the company does appreciate my work.
