Ok, yeah, Bruce Willis plus Serious Scifi seems like a really really bad idea.
But ignore the Bruce Willis thing, and watch this movie.
I am still really happy with this film, after multiple viewings, spanning multiple years.
And yet every time I mention it, people give me a blank stare, and have no recollection of it at all.
Basic Premise: There are basically perfect robotic "surrogate" bodies that you can pilot around the world from your comfortable lounger in your home. Everyone, of course, wants the most beautiful and perfect and studly and amazing surrogate representing themselves out in the world, and everyone engages in "dangerous" activity... because who cares if your robot surrogate dies? You just get another one!
Until people start dying when their surrogates die.
Then: Drama. And excitement. And police work.
BUT. The thing about Surrogates is the world that it creates. A world where everyone is perfect is an interesting place, because so much of our current world is built upon marketing to you what total shit you are.
When that message and inferiority complex goes away... things get really different, really fast.
It's a good film, and I enjoy the hell out of it.
I hope I have made you want to watch it, too.
