I realize that there's a very large economy full of many, many people that I don't know nearly enough about.
Hi Devac, Thanks for asking.. You can refer The Indian Express, Livemint to get idea on economy, these papers are centrist in opinion..i.e. more pro development as I think, so these support labour reforms, more FDI..et al. whereas, when you want to know about what left leaning people think.. you can refer The HIndu.. in this paper opinions are largely against Genetically modified crops, land acquisition from farmers etc. And majority of population read The Times of India, but for quality you can refer above sources.. Hope it helps.
The only one I know of is The Times of India, but I don't know anything about their reputation or nothing. For all I know, they may be the Fox News or MSNBC of Indian papers. Edit: Since you're looking at economics and such, apparently they have a sister paper, The Economic Times and Wikipedia says it's 2nd to the Wall Street Journal as the widest read English business newspaper.
Well, I've never read The Times of India myself, but I have read foreign papers and listened to foreign radio stations on the internet on and off for the past decade or so. Some of my local PBS stations will play BBC or NHK brand news casts from time to time too, which is kind of cool. All of that stuff seems like a different world sometimes, for all sorts of reasons, and it can be quite the novelty. Though a lot of the times, I think I really lack the necessary background knowledge to really appreciate the weight of some of the stories being told.
