I think you just know when somebody is being genuine in their art.

I wish that were true. My high school art teacher revelled in SHITTING all over most of my projects. I would slave over a piece, and get it exactly as I wanted it. And she would just destroy it. I'm convinced she genuinely hated me. (and I'm not claiming to be a "good" artist... but I can pinpoint three specific pieces I did that felt so right and so good to me... and she lit me up.

ahhhhh life.

That's literally high school art teachers jobs honestly. This girl used to get shit on for all her pieces and she was basically the one person who really made art for her and she was good. Other people were good but in a technical way.

Actually I had two really good supportive high school art teachers. I might have wanted to be one myself but it's not an easy job to get. And keep...

Yay for budget constraints!

I'll never understand why. Perhaps it was because she could see I wouldn't "make it" as a professional artist, so she beat me up ahead of time to save me the heartache later.

and I can accept that.
