I can't believe the Senate adjourned until Monday without passing something. Shit's unbelievable.
Ask yourself: is there anything the Senate could do that would make them less likely to get re-elected? No? So keep doing that thing that makes your donors happy and will ensure that nice slide into consulting or lobbying. McConnell & Co are either invulnerable or fucked. Either way, there isn't much they could do to move the needle now that wouldn't permanently doom them with the military-industrial complex. Fuckin' ride the lightning.
I have, and sadly, while the answer might be "no", the outcome isn't certain because it requires too much faith in (just as you've alluded to before) peoples' ability to discern credible information in this landscape, and too much faith that media outlets not focus primarily on outrageous things Donald Trump says/tweets, 'cuz pageviews, vs. focusing on actual policy decisions. The Senate GOP knows and appreciates the cover Trump's circus provides in perhaps the most chaotic news cycle in history. Bottom line: Yup, I would loooooove to delude myself into thinking that it's curtains for the entire GOP apparatus, but, nah. I'm not going to assume that until the credits roll. This is how I see it as well. One of the most extreme political bifurcations since the civil war, but not so easy to draw geographic battlefronts, and thus the conflict is prolonged. Please consider watching the YouTube video in this comment (I disgust myself with exactly every single self-sales pitch, don't worry):Ask yourself:...

Slow moving train wreck. The damage is already done though there isn’t much recovery at this point. People will either get evicted now or in a year there is no way people who don’t have 500 in savings can magically come up with 3k. Moreover if they actually had 3k they would be kicked off programs like food stamps and other assistance.
It reminds me of radiation sickness. You get hit, and you don't even know you're fucked if you aren't looking at the gages. Then you start to feel bad, and they start to do everything to save you. Then there's a prodromal period where you feel much better, but it's kinda hard to enjoy it because you're about to die horribly. And then you die horribly.
Yeah, except this radiation sickness is kind of contagious. People can't pay rent, landlords can't pay mortgages, banks can't do whatever it is that banks do, more businesses suffer, more people can't pay rent and mortgages, banks can do even less and whatever happened to hundreds of thousands of American's being underwater on 7 and 10 year car loans and predatory loans from buy here pay here dealerships? Now's probably not a good time to realize that's still a thing.
