Romney delivered possibly the most dishonest presidential campaign speech in American history containing lie after lie, distortion after distortion. The fact that a person capable of giving such a speech has reached this level suggests that it may be too late to salvage the country.
IMO his campaign hit a new level for recent times. When I read about the campaigns of several decades ago, it seems that candidates lied with impunity then. Of course, this reflects upon Romney, but IMO more importantly, it speaks to the current state of the US media. Of course, in most people's eyes, if you call out Romney's lies, it's because you are a liberal. That's part of what keeps news services that try to be objective from confronting this. Truth-out can say it, but it doesn't matter so much that they do. Even non-partisan fact checkers are suspect when their results seem uneven, despite the fact that the offenses might be so.
