- The three biggest themes from the book were:
The Great Stagnation is real, and was caused by careful strangulation of all of the potential avenues of search and advancement we have had
There is surprisingly little correlation between regulatory increase and scientific and technological progress and it can be seen over and over again in multiple sectors
There are credible paths of research as yet untapped, amongst all areas seen as science fiction - including nanotechnology, nuclear energy and yes, flying cars
Setting aside the rest of the article for the moment: Air taxi: https://www.jobyaviation.com/ "Flying car" (why drive when you can take-off/land anywhere?): https://kittyhawk.aero/heaviside/ Folding wings, trailerable: https://www.iconaircraft.com/a5/ Detachable wings, trailerable: https://www.vansaircraft.com/rv-12is/ These are not pie-in-the-sky links. I know people working at both Joby and Kitty Hawk. The A5 and RV-12is are both already available. Also, helicopters. and https://www.opener.aero/ (but I don't personally know anyone at Opener)
By far my favorite, though not exactly a flying car: http://www.deloreanaerospace.com/ Full disclosure the founder is a close friend.
