I got a commission last month to produce whatever I deemed a a "chill hour" of music.
I ended up making an hour long continuous mix of jazz beats, ambient, dub techno, and minimal house. I finished up this week, so I've mostly been listening to that.
I've been sitting on this for a while now, waiting for a suitable occasion.
That's some top notch artistry. Thanks for posting. God it's like Gorillaz meets Infected Mushroom sometimes, almost.
Comments like _that_ make it all worthwhile! Cheers! The back catalogue is just as amazing. Plus Hallucinogen In Dub too
to be honest I've just been jamming to bbc radio dance and then falling asleep to radio 3 classical youtube finally managed to make it impossible for me to listen to music ad free on there by account locking me so I've returned to the old fashioned way
Still listening to Venjent, this stuff is getting well into the realm of Good and Funny now, which is rare, for me. He's both serious and not serious and is probably done worrying about it. Glad you're feeling better though dude :)
We interviewed 23 bands this year, of which 19 were interviewed by me. My co-host interviewed Night Club talking about remixing Pig and mentioning that the craziest show they ever saw was Einsturzende Neubauten, who would like go to the junkyard and grab a bunch of weird shit and then just bang on it. I did not listen to this interview because I hate the shit out of Night Club. But two months later I interviewed Raymond Watts and we bonded over mixing front-of-house, including what it was like dealing with guys who would go ot the junkyard and grab a bunch of weird shit and then just bang on it. I cut those 23 interviews down to 4 1/2 hours of frickin' awesome clips and songs. The 3-hour version airs tomorrow.
once you're done chilling out, I'm inordinately proud of December 22 Hour 1
I wish there was a way to browse through the track, and I hate people who say things like that, insinuating that they don't ever put something on a listen for a continuous hour, only I'm allowed to not do that. But also, you don't ever wanna air a little "Hey, it's me again, thanks for tuning in" somewhere in there? It'd be really funny right before that first track, a smooth, soft voice, NPR'ingly: "good evening seattle, i hope you are doing alright in these trying times" .. "... VIOLENCE, CONTROL, RAGE..."
Welcome to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act Here's the upside of being on the actual, honest-to-god radio: if I play it, it gets tabulated by Billboard. It is on one of five stations tabulated, one of three that play nothing but dance music, and the only one in the world that plays industrial. That show has aired every sunday for 35 years. Any industrial music that charts? Charts because of ME. Here's the downside: it's impossible to find, there's absolutely no social discovery and stepping out of line earns you hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. If I put together something that never hits the air - like this - It doesn't have to come down after two weeks. But because of the DMCA even Mixcloud is in a gray area. They don't allow downloads. Pretty sure if it ever became popular the studios would shut it down. There's basically one other Industrial radio show in the world. Their discovery and media presence kick the shit out of ours, despite the fact that they're in Brisbane. This is because (1) they're in Brisbane (2) their "fuck the man" pedigree is well-established.
