littlebirdie  ·  4374 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Ask Hubski: What is your new years resolution for 2013?

I resolve:

1. To write one poem a day, every day of the year. The poems can be simple haiku or complicated sonnets, perhaps just a two-line ditty. I have fallen out of writing poetry this past year, and want to return. It grounds me, the writing, the words, the shadow and sublime. I will be posting them at my Cosmic Parrot tumblr.

2. To spend an hour in the outdoors each day, unless the weather is so bad that it is untenable (unlikely here in the desert). I could spend the hour walking, running, thinking, sitting, basking in the sun. It is too easy to let a day pass without time outside.

3. To finish the three novels I have almost completed. I think I have a fear of completion - it can't be a fear of success, because all three novels are so strange that I doubt many people would enjoy them. It would feel great to finish them, toss them into the world. One is a YA novel, the other two are related and have to do with kind zombies, New Mexico, and history.

3 novels?? Wow! Good luck with that, "if you will it, there is no dream".

You should post your daily poems here too, that way I can resolve to read a poem a day :)

Yeah, two are done, just need to be reread and edited a bit, and then readied for the Real World. One is in progress, but I should finish it in January. So, if I can get my hand moving, and my brain moving, and my will to let them loose, it shall be done. Trickier than it sounds. Or perhaps not.

I will start a poem thread tomorrow!

Hey littlebirdie, how are you doing? I'm not sure if you'll receive this, but if you do please know that I'm wishing you well! How are things going with your resolutions for 2013? Your goals were lofty ones, a poem a day and to publish three novels. -That's a tall order :)

Hope you are well my friend!

Those novels sound interesting. Can you give me a name so I can look out for them? And a poem a day, damn.

Sure thing. You can get my info at my little blog, linked in my profile here. One of the novels I've been serializing at Reddit (goddess help me), it's weird, but if you would like to read it, send me a little note and I will send you the link.

A poem a day will be tough, but I can do it! Like I said, some poems may be short and sweet (or not so sweet), but it will be a good meditation to help get my mind out of this writing rut it seems to be nurturing. Ruts are good, I think; they force you to consider your crappiness, but I'm ready to move along!
