I've added some, but I want to know if there is some important interesting once that I cant find. I know reddit had a reddit-meta thing which showed the most visited subreddits.
Hubski is centered around following users, not tags. Tags are more of a way to categorize things, but there is no moderation on the use of tags. You can follow users via their hub by clicking on the user. If you want somewhere to get started, look at the right under discover. It lists the most popular posts of this time, community stats and badged posts/comments. Just follow some of the users and slowly start building your feed. Good luck and have fun here.
psst... check out #writebetterdammit, #higgsy and #thehumancondition they are some of my personal favorites. edit: and #goodlongreads shhh...
I can't believe I wasn't following those already :O
More important than following "those" is following "those that use them" imo.
True, but following the tags is the best way to catch those who use the tag for the first time.
Valid point, but now if you are interested in a specific tag, just type #nameoftag in the search bar and you will get all of the posts from that specific tag. Hope that helps s_s.
Thanks. I completely overlooked that in mks post. Once in a while I will be searching for #tngpodcast to make sure I didn't miss one of them.
Thanks, that's nice to hear. Those take a lot of work and often not for more than 50 listens. Maybe that will change with the amount of new people on this site but I'm convinced that people just don't care as much about radio/podcasts as they do video. We are likely going to begin doing a Hubski video cast from the podcasts. That should be interesting.
Seems that podcasts and radio shows are really unappreciated. The beauty of radio shows and podcasts is that you can use your own imagination to fill in the show. Also a huge advantage of podcasts is that you can listen to them without needing a screen.
That is most certainly true, but the popular feed isn't a bad place to start. Also, turn on the content discovery in your controls to see new content.
If you are able to do so, please dual tag things :-)
hubski.com/lurk is a good combo of the most active and popular threads at any given time. this is the "front page" people see if they are not logged in.
I remember that there used to be a link for that. Where did it go? (Or am I blind? :S)
I don't see it anymore either. I think when the sidebar was redesigned it went away.
Hey insom, jemiller and speeding_snail. Actually hubski.com/lurk was the same as hubski.com/popular. I just kept hubski.com/lurk alive for a while after we renamed 'lurk' to 'popular' so people's bookmarks and cached urls would work. I just removed with today's update, then saw this thread. :)
Now I feel like an idiot. I've been viewing hubski with an incognito window, thinking the logged out page was different than /popular... now that I compare the two, they are exactly the same. Thanks for pointing that out, think of all the wasted effort you've saved my future self! o/
