A really great list by PC gamer of many upcoming PC/multiplatform games of 2013 and beyond. It's a great list because it takes into account a lot of indie games, including famous Kickstarter and Greenlight projects. Aside from the obvious big budget games like Metro Last Light and Watch Dogs (and many more), a few of the ones that caught my attention are Gone Home, Ether One, Europa, and Routine (which, aside from the suspense/horror element, seems eerily similar to a game I've been conceptualizing and hoping to start developing sometime, but my idea is more like the story exploration games such as Gone Home and Dear Esther).
There are really so many great games in development now, especially with the boom of the indie developer scene - I'm so excited! It seems we've finally got past the dull years of gaming where boring, rehashed big budget titles dominated the market. It feels like we're experiencing a sort of renaissance in gaming, and even more so of the space game genre (Elite: Dangerous, Strike Force Zero, Star Citizen, Limit Theory, X Rebirth, Enemy Starfighter, just to name a few). I can't wait for all these games I'm not going to have time to play!..
I have a problem with any list of upcoming games that calls them the best. If it was something like the title of this submission ("most anticipated"), then yeah, that would work, but I think calling something that isn't even out yet "the best" isn't... right. That being said, my most anticipated game of the year is Dead State, the zombie survival RPG made by some of the people that made Fallout and Planescape: Torment. It's supposed to be out by December, apparently.
Yeah I noticed that with the title too - I think the editor was just having a messy day, I'm sure he meant most anticipated. Also, my friends and I were working on a game similar to Dead State, but not turn based. Unfortunately we kind of hit a brick wall when everyone's lives got busy and we haven't had the opportunity to develop, but hopefully we will get back to it sometime.
Plants vs Zombies 2? Hell yes. Bioshock Infinite? About time ... I've had this game on pre-order for about a year already. Elder Scrolls Online would be on my list if I hadn't sworn off MMO's (I wasted too many years on WoW). And if you're into indie space games check out my FIL's game on Greenlight, ZIGFRAK
ESO is really nothing special in my opinion, they're just rehashing the WoW formula and slapping the Elder Scrolls name on it. Also, Zigfrak looks really cool, albeit a strange name. I'm downloading the demo now to check it out.
