Just my opinion, but if it's a feature worth maintaining (it is), it's a feature worth displaying. No need to hide it unless you can come up with something more desired/needed in its place.

Good point.

Even so, sometimes it's nice to have features that reside in the background, but are available for those users that really like to drill down into the site. IMO Google often does this well. Putting simplicity upfront, while enabling for more complex interactions for those that want it.

Bear in mind that some of us are RTFM types.

"Available for users that really like to drill down into the site" is the same thing as "completely hidden from the people who don't like playing whack-a-mole with your functionality." I think you want to keep Hubski visually simple yet functionally deep, but for those of us who want the deep functionality, requiring us to click on everything like it's a treasure hunt is the wrong way to make us happy.
