He touched upon my favorite little oddity with the Owl, which is how people viewed it as a bird of wisdom, a kind of patron-saint to philosophers by relation to Minerva, Goddess of Wisdom...
Turns out the Owl isn't a very smart animal at all!
My parents had a bird house that was typically occupied by an owl. Sometimes when I got bored, I would pick apart the owl pellets that could be found at the bottom of the tree. The little rodent skulls and leg bones were morbid and cute. I want to know more about Richard III now.

A very enjoyable read, thanks for posting. I particularly liked the comparison of Sweden and England as it relates to owls and Social Security.
