You can't really expect anything better out of David Brooks. He's the type of person who thinks that the 1950s were a magical time for the US when everyone got along and lawns were mowed nicely and neighbors said hi to each other and America was the greatest country where birds sang and women baked fresh bread and kids frolicked without any cares in the world. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
