This actually wasn't supposed to go up until tomorrow. But, Kenning, which is the journal attached to my blog (they might claim it's the other way around) pushed out a new issue over the weekend, and I think all draft posts got pushed out with that. Or, the editor decided to do me a "favor" and publish my draft, perhaps thinking I forgot it.
Anyway it's a new feature on the blog. Hope you enjoy, I just recorded it with my iPhone - not using any fancy equipment, no not here - and my one friend says it's a bit nasally. Whatever. I don't think I sound that bad, honestly.
Thoughts appreciated.
I really enjoyed hearing that, thank you. Also for what it's worth, if you or anyone else is ever interested, SoundCloud will embed on Hubski. I think this is an underutilized feature.
Thanks for the tip about SoundCloud embedding nicely, might give it a crack in the near future. I've had a few colleagues and friends over the years say I should give voice acting/reading a crack because of some of the voices/impersonations I do now and then for a laugh; do you (or anyone else) think that people would be interested in poems/stories/pieces being read aloud for people to listen here on Hubski?
Awesome! I won't rate how great my voice is haha, but I'd be willing to give things a read for others to listen to. If we wanted to start a # tag for readings to be gathered under, what should we call it? #hubskireads ? #hubskisvoice ? #hubskialoud ?
_refugee_ and BlackBird, I used the #hubskialoud tag and made a post to coincide with the #hubskibookclub. Enjoy!
I'd definitely be interested. When I'm lucky, I get to hear a poem read aloud by cW, and it's such a nice thing. There is something special about hearing a poem, I really feel that this is how poetry was meant to be consumed. What I'm saying is, "I'm in!" I'll follow #hubskialoud. -nice suggestion. Edit: Also, David Byrne once said that "nobody trusts a good singer," -or something to that effect. Perhaps reading is similar? Sometimes the little crackles in our voice, the idiosyncracies are what make listening enjoyable.
Been looking for that David Byrne quote I referenced and finally found it: "the better the singers voice, the harder it is to believe what they're saying"
Just use sound clouds instructions on how to post an audio file. Once you have recorded audio there, just submit the link like you would any other to hubski and it will materialize. Voila! Let me know if you need help beyond that.
