The Best Little Girl In the World... It's a bit of a rare read, but fitting for this period in my life.

Diet soda, tea, relaxing in better, video games, reading, meditation, and yoga!

Interesting system! Thank you for sharing. I occasionally journal, and it helps me a lot. I'll definitely be trying this out.

Right now, I basically just right down a few paragraphs about life and such. I'm pretty inconsistent in my journaling, but it is there for me to fall back on whenever I need it.

I'll be giving this a try!

BattleTech/ MechWarrior all the way! There are tons of novels written about the book and there is just so much to immerse yourself in.

We're a small community, but we will always survive!

TranquilWinds  ·  3466 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What will you miss most from Reddit?

I like to think of different web communities like these as different 'countries' with different cultures. Once you get over the initial phase of tailoring the websites to your liking, learning the etiquette, and just getting to know the place you become much more 'at home'. Sure, it's intimidating, but it would be to visit Poland as well.

However, you don't get the niche communities that Reddit has on here. :/ It's just the way that Reddit was set up with the subs really facilitated a lot of small groups coming together.

Reddit is actually really enjoyable once you have it customized to your liking. It's hard to find places where you can have quality discussion because a lot of the defaults are replete with memes and hackneyed jokes.

Contemplating birth and death/ impermanence is such a wonderful way to put our problems in perspective. It also alleviates a lot of stress because we see how things truly are and not just how we interpret them: which is always much more dramatic than they really are ;)

TranquilWinds  ·  3466 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: How do you relax?

I like to relax with tea or a diet soda, do some puzzles (e.g. jigsaw, Bejeweled, etc.), go for a walk, do yoga, meditate, or just lay in my bed and browse the web.

I like it. I have an eating disorder, and I think it would be nice to have thoughtful discussion about mental health. However, I don't know how it work on Hubski, but this website is so good at having quality conversation that I think it's worth a try.

This should be one of those things that is really obvious. People are always looking for the magic pill, or that certain thing to add to their diet to lose weight, but the simple truth is that the only way to lose weight is to expend more calories than you take in...

Gave you a shout-out! Apologies- I'm new to Hubski.

TranquilWinds  ·  3484 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, what are your favorite free online games?

Adding onto this to say to check out myabandondonware (http://www.myabandonware.com) !

The site has over 5,000 antiquated games. The only issue is that it can be a rather lengthy process to get the games to work on modern-day machines.

I love space- it just puts all of our daily concerns and worries in perspective. Everything seems so petty when you realize that the Sun will swallow our planet and explode in about 4 billion years.

TranquilWinds  ·  3486 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What keeps you fit, Hubski?

Running and yoga! I can't vouch for them enough. Yoga (especially vinyasa flow styles) combine the best aspects of meditation and athleticism to pacify the mind and develop the body. On the other hand, when you are in 'the zone' during running, you are entirely focused on moving forward. At least for those few moments, all of the worries in your life dissipate as you focus on finishing up those 5 miles...

Oh yeah- I also do some work on the elliptical to spice things up.

TranquilWinds  ·  3486 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, what do you believe?

I completely understand what you mean with your original post, but don't you think that loving and accepting ourselves and being happy are the most important things? You can never escape you. If you can be contented with your own company, then I'm certainly envious!

TranquilWinds  ·  3486 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, what do you believe?

Very true.

This reminds me of a quote: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

TranquilWinds  ·  3487 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Onism: The Awareness of How Little of the World You'll Experience

I really like this channel. It really puts me in a pensive mood.

However, a lot of it just seems superfluous. It's like the author is holding your hand and walking you through your own thought process instead of allowing you to actually come to your own feelings and opinion.

This list doesn't even make much sense. It just seems to be a random list of games slapped together with no expansion on why they were listed or anything.
