- Do you remember Second Life? Set up by developer Linden Lab in 2003, it was the faithful replication of our modern world where whoring, drinking, and fighting were acceptable. It was the place where big brands moved in as neighbors and hawked you their wares online. For many, it was the future — our lives were going to be lived online, as avatars represented us in nightclubs, bedrooms, and banks made of pixels and code.
Everything I can think of goes against hubski's fundamental ideology of choice and specificity. bfv's suggestion might work for really rudimentary stuff like 'film' and 'movies'. I have to say it's fucking gratifying that every time I mention an issue you guys have already had discussions about it. Incredible how on the ball y'all are.
Second life has always interested me, but not enough to play it. First time I played it I was extremely young, but it didn't stop me. The world was strange, entirely crafted over the years by the player-bases. Close friends made money off the game through scripting. It's truly an interesting game but I could never play it.
Probably eight years ago I created a second life account due to the positive endorsement of cW. I realized quickly that I enjoyed it too much and therefore quit playing within the first week. I just knew that it would be too much of a time suck.
