First fight after prison, Kirkland got KO'ed by a little known Japanese fighter in the first 20 seconds of the match. Everyone wrote him off as a has been. Kirkland went back to Ann, fought a few bum's and signed the fight with Angulo. Alfredo Angulo is probably the hardest punch in the division, for Kirkland, a guy who got knocked out by a no power Japanese fighter (no slight to Japan, but you don't see many fighters of any caliber coming from the land of the rising sun) this seemed like madness. Even as a big fan, I was worried. Maybe prison had taken something out of him, maybe he really didn't have a chin, and all his past victories were due to his overwhelming offense. Angulo was certainly going to let the world know what James was really made of.
Pretty much if I am a fan of a fighter, that fighters career is going to spiral downward just as it seem they might make a lasting mark on the sport. Glad to see that I haven't laid a heavy curse on James so far.
It's worth it to watch the bio before the match starts, and maybe the rest of the fight. The fight probably should have been stopped before the sixth round, but Angulo would rather go out on his shield.
