My favorite is Dwarf Fortress. Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress (usually shortened to Dwarf Fortress) is a single-player “ASCII” game (uses letters and other symbols to represent creatures and objects) which includes both a roguelike adventure mode, and the more popular Dwarf Fortress Mode, which focuses on the creation and survival of a small dwarven settlement. Right now? Probably Cookie Clicker considering how much of my time this (basically useless) game is consuming. Other than that I spent a large amount of my free time with League of Legends, a free-to-play MOBA which I probably wasted more than 80 days of played time on.
I've never seen the appeal in Cookie Clicker and games like it. I tried to get into it, but I found it very repetitive and pointless.
No. At first yes, but then you start buying things that generate cookies, from cursors to antimatter condensers. You can get upgrades to make these buildings better and to do other stuff. There are also achievements, for things such as cookies baked, buildings owned, etc. Then there's the Grandmapocalypse... It's scary how much time I've had it open.
Well, I guess I can welcome you to THE CLUB :) And no, that's not all: After a couple of minutes you can buy upgrades, which will generate cookies for you. After an hour or so, clicking itself is basically obsolete, because the cps (cookies per second) by your upgrades will be much higher than the ones you get from clicking. And then the hunt for upgrades and achievements is on!
Is it bad that I have the "No Click" achievement and have created 94,309,474,136,215 cookies?
I had a similar amount of time logged playing that game. I'm frankly glad I don't play it anymore, it stressed me out and was a waste of time. The only reason I would've continued playing is if it had a community I liked. A group of mature, friendly, funny people. A group like hubski... I'm kidding, hubski, do not make a League of Legends group, that'd be too much.
Yeah, sometimes I think to myself that I've played it enough and I should move on and find some time for all the other awesome games out there. I have all the champs and a huge chunk of IP piling up, it occupied me several years and I didn't really spend that much on it (really!). But somehow I have a weakness for competitive online games and I just keep coming back. The community honestly doesn't even bother me that much, but I either play ARAM/normals with friends or I play rankeds alone, but then again I'm high plat and that may spoil me regarding my teammates. And so I keep logging in every day and keep playing and playing and playing and...
I never got better than silver, and all I wanted to do was play at gold or platinum, just to get there, and then I'd stop. But I realized I had logged something like 2 months of real-time playing over a few years, and that I wasn't going to get any better just open-endedly playing. Different part of my life, that was something like a year ago I quit. I realized if I spent a fraction of that time doing anything else, it'd probably be a better use of my time. So I took to drug dealing and womanizing. KIDDING
Mh yeah, he nerfed/adjusted some prices and bonuses. Also he added another tier of upgrades and a bunch of achievements. The full patchnotes look like that: Also he's working on a Dungeon system right now, which is still in beta though, but I guess it's included in the next patch (The beta dungeons I played weren't really worthwhile though).
I actually have two games open right now, one where I didn't reset and one where I did reset that also had the new beta. The non reset one has 1 chip and would get about 72 more chips if I reset now, and the reset one has 24 chips and would get another 12 I think. 6.6 billion CPS on the non reset one... I probably should stop playing the game but it's too fun for some reason.
In our opinion, the best free game is Realmcraft. It has so many functions that it can replace 2-3 full games. The world of Realmcraft consists of cubes, which are material for crafting and building. In survival mode, you get food, build shelter, beat monsters. And in creative mode (free construction), you can create any kind of building without limiting resources.
That's a shame, because the depth level and variety of the genre is absolutely amazing once you get to know it. 1) Read a few guides and play against bots to learn the basics stress-free offline. Whenever you can beat the bots, you're ready to go online. 2) Do not play All Pick if you solo queue. 3) Be a nice dude throughout the game, and ask other nice people from your team to play again. Add them to your friends list, and after not long you'll have 1-3 guys to queue with most games, which helps a lot.
I just don't think it's for me. It's why I love Minecraft so much, sure there can be a lot of action where I could be working in a team but other times I could just be standing there talking in chat. I haven't been on there in ages, but there was this server I went to practice my German and most of my time was spent just talking in chat or me listening to them speak in Teamspeak. I just don't see that happening in Dota 2...
Cave Story Pixel Platformer with a lot of resemblance and feel to the older metroid games, plus a REALLY good story to go along
...theres a 3DS version? fuck im getting i 3DS
I am getting it solely for pokemon x and y
There's actually two different 3DS versions. The physical boxed copy, which has full 3D graphics (models instead of sprites). And then there's the e-shop version, which is basically regular cave story. I have the boxed copy, mainly because I got it when it first came out. Some hardcore fans don't like it though, since the camera angle is a bit off and it's kind of difficult to tell where all the edges and hitboxes are.
wow thats really great, cave story is definetly also my favourite game, i new about the steam version but these news are just awesome
Good to see Dwarf Fortress getting some love. I'm pretty excited for the upcoming release; it should change the game significantly. I've already spent so much time on that game. Other favorites would include: Spelunky Cave Story Tribes Ascend (F2P)
Trackmainia Nations Forever is a solid arcade racer. Generally the rooms open are time attack where you race the same track for 5-6 minutes and attempt to get the best time. There is also a solo medal system with rankings by state so you can see where you rank locally. There are some newer versions that you need to pay for, so make sure to get TM Nations Forever.
I play a little bit of War Thunder. It's a WWII - Korean War flight sim game, mostly focusing around WWII war birds. It's a very fun game, free to download, free to play, and you can pay for extras or to level faster (but it's not needed). It does have some MMO leveling elements to it to get new planes, but even the lower leves are a blast, and that's pretty much all I play. I don't have a lot of time for games, but that's the only one I'm playing a couple times a week now.
That would've been my pick too. War Thunder is a lot of fun and has stunning visuals on highest settings, while it doesn't need a high end PC to play it at 30fps. I don't know how, but this is the only online game that has managed to keep me motivated for weeks. Sadly, a lot of people think that it's a rip-off of Wargaming's World Of Tanks & World Of Warplanes, but the guys from War Thunder started the development way earlier after they split up from Wargaming and became part of Gaijin Entertainment.
Yeah, and I don't care if it's a "rip-off", it's beautifl, fun, and true to the flight models of the aircraft. I used to play Air Warrior 1-3 on AOL and later Gamestorm a long time ago, and this is the first WWII flight sim since that is actually fun and holds my interest. Love it!
We did a 3 part round up of neat free games a while back (downloadable though, not just online). http://www.redferret.net/?p=19113
