This image took me down a long conversation with my wife about the Eiffel Tower and whether we found it to be an attractive structure. I've never seen it in person, but she says it's really pretty at night. I didn't realize that it was built for the Worlds Fair. Seems that many awesome structures were once constructed for the Worlds Fair, which got me to look up whether or not there was still a "Worlds Fair." -Turns out there is but it's referred to as The Worlds Expo or Expo 2015.

They no longer carry the significance they once did, which is a shame.

I always thought about the World Fairs of the past, especially the World's Columbian Exposition. I wish things like this existed today they're so interesting.

I lived in a city that hosted a recent expo. I think a lot of the buildings are just sitting in disuse, like ghost town of contemporary architecture. I found it more depressing than anything.

Oh definitely, I wasn't referring to Montreal. As far as I know Montreal did a good job of reusing the buildings. The Biosphere and La Ronde have also been put to use, others too I'm sure.

That's a shame, it was once the catalyst for great architecture.
