Ireland's trial of replacing schools books with HP Elite Pad tablets was "an unmitigated disaster", says school principal. Tablets failed to turn on, spontaneously went to sleep, looped while performing automatic updates, system boards failed and WiFi failed to connect.
I thought this was going to be more of a take on ebooks in general and digital media in schools, turns out it just sounds like HP tablets are horrible. Shoulda stuck with Samsung or Apple, and this would probably not have been a story.
Yeah, I expected an article on the importance of tangible resources in education, and what i got was a big loose dump on hewlett packard.
Well, for one, this is the failure of one school in Ireland attempting to switch to tablets, not Ireland as a whole. Additionally, this is what happens when you A.) Don't have support for new tech on site, with nobody knowledgeable to take care of it and B.) When you use HP products. That might sound like some sort of joke, but it's an honest fact. You should test the products you'll be using before you buy as many as they did, and you should certainly know it the products you're buying are a quality to fit your needs, and unfortunately, HP is no longer up to snuff for anybody outside the elderly who have no problem replacing their products once a year.
Well this is the first problem. You don't know what the word "memory" means.“The memory of the HP device is 64GB, it far exceeds other tablets’ memory capacity.”
