Me too. I've seen all of his movies from the killing onward, although I've not seen his first couple. I would say he's one of only two directors that I know really well who basically only make works of art, the other being Kurosawa. Also, I'm a huge fan of brain pickings. If you don't read it regularly, I would suggest mixing into your rotation. It's my favorite culture website.
Agreed. There aren't many directors who can use silence and extended pauses between lines of dialogue in the manner that he does, where it adds to the atmosphere of the scene and the movie as a whole. You can pick any frame out of nearly every scene and it could hold its own as a photograph. Truly one of the best.I would say he's one of only two directors that I know really well who basically only make works of art, the other being Kurosawa.
