One of the aspects of religion that appeals to me is the sense of tradition that most denominations hold dear. The "Igloo" is a beautiful example of this. The original is fantastic looking too.
Don't miss the original: http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/fotostrecke-76803-10.html

The new version kind of reminds me of Niemeyer's Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Pampulha:

Interesting Niemeyer -- I really like his work (love BrasÃlia in the abstract but definitely wouldn't want to live there :).
The church's overall form (in parts) and specially the interior shots reminded me of Corbu's Ronchamp but that detail you posted is also there.

He was 104 the other day. He says he'll keep working, but sadly his son just gives him busy work to do to keep him active, he can't deal with the stress of architecture any more.
He's still a young man at heart, he says the breast and the curve of a woman is the best thing to draw and all his buildings are derived from that inspiration.

Brazilians! Love it :) I didn't realize he was 104! That is amazing. Clearly his architecture was a reflection of his virile constitution.

The "Breast and curve of a woman" -a noble Life's pursuit IMHO.
