Alright, figured we could do the voting for next month's game, since I think there's enough interest for the club.
So, comment below with the game you'd want to play, with some description as to why, just to give us some more reason.
Then people can confirm their yay or nay consent in the comments, each comment being counted as a vote. One with the most comments (votes) wins.
Let me know if you think the system doesn't work. If it does, on with the voting!
Big Edit: Dammit I forgot, this is going to be for the game that will be played across the month of July, that'll be single-player focused. The multiplayer voting thread will be another day, unless I didn't post this edit early enough, in which case it's all good!
So we talked more or less centering around PC on Steam, right? I'd recommend Don't Starve or Half Life 2, both games can be played on most machines I would think.
For Don't Starve I think it could bring about great discussion on strategy to last even more than a day and HL2 is just great. Lastly, I'm super stoked this was put together.
I'm also voting for Half-Life 2, I feel this is a game everyone should play at some point, and I know personally I have no problem replaying it.
I'm going to officially vote Half Life 2 as well. Great pace, cheap ($5.00 on sale on Steam right now), on every single OS, and a perfect intro for people who haven't played FPS games before, in my opinion. Let me know if you want to play but don't have a copy, if HL2 ends up getting picked! Thanks, I hope it's fun for everyone!
I'll vote for Half-Life 2 as well. It's available on pretty much any PC now, plus PS3, XBox 360, and XBox Classic (which is the version I'll be playing if it works on 360.) If you're buying HL2 now, you might want to wait until Sunday, when the deals roll over, it might go as a Community Choice/Flash Sale for $2.50 between now and then (if $2.50 is worth waiting for to you.)
I might be alone on this one but lately I've been drifting way, way back to the classic games of my childhood. Games I remember fondly that, to me, rival many contemporaries. I haven't had a chance to play with Steam lately but surely they have the original Thief? Loved the immersion on that one. Or better yet, the original Deus Ex! Half-Life 2 was revolutionary but if I could wipe my memory and play somethings anew? Garrett and Denton for sure.
I'm very much up for playing Deus Ex - fantastic game. I'm also happy to play HL2.
Why don't we have some multiplayer action? hubski is about community... I propose Terraria. I know there has already been some discussion about playing this game. I could set up a Mumble server and grab a Freenode channel so we could all communicate. EDIT: Apparently this is for single-player games only. I vote for Don't Starve. I absolutely love that game. If anyone needs a copy, PM me.
Zork. Because Zork. Actually, because it's legendary and I feel like any "real" gamer ought to play thru it at least once, and I haven't, and I doubt many people from my generation have.
Zork seems like an interesting idea, but might be better once this gets going a little more. I'd love it myself, but it might alienate people early on.
As an addition to one of these games, I highly recommend Floating Point. It's a free cool webslingy sort of game. Simple controls, a game to relax. Definitely give it a try! You'll suck at first but keep playing and soon you'll get the hang of it.
I'd definitely be down for replaying HL2, it's been a long time since I've played it and it's a fantastic game.
