Today will be my fourth day of doing T-25. humanodon, you asked in a comment what it was. -It's a workout regiment that only takes 25 minutes a day. I have an emerging "gut" that needs to go bye-bye and I've just generally been in poor shape since the birth of my son. No time for tennis, but I do have 25 minutes a day. My plan is to do this 5 days a week and then two runs on the weekend, a short one on Saturday and then a long run on Sunday. I have to get ready for the Detroit Half Marathon on October 19th. mk, b_b and ecib, we should hang out after the run in Detroit. QUESTION FOR ALL YA'LL Since we are sitting in a virtual "pub" right now. What virtual drink do you have in your hand? I have a rye Manhattan
I could go to your bachelor party the night before the marathon... .that'd probably be a great idea. Seriously though, any plans in place?
Eminem has definitely rapped about this: (song name: white trash party) She's got a tattoo of me right above her ass man
In the streets of Warren, Michigan we call 'em tramp stamps
That means she belongs to me, time to put the damn clamps
Down and show this hussy who's the man
Now, get in, dance!
Makin' it rain for the ladies in the mini's
But I'm not throwin' ones, fives, tens, or even twenties
I'm throwin' quarters, nickels, dimes, pennies up at skinnies
Man I do this for them bunnies up at Denny's
From the north, east and west, but when
It comes to them trailers in them South Parks
Muffle it, cause homie that hood's tighter than Kenny's
You've changed. I kid. Let me know the date of the festivities. Who knows...
There's always Vegas... Maybe we could get insomniasexx to come if it were there. I hear she has some free time on her hands these days.
I'm already in Vegas the first week of Sept (I think) they've not announced the dates. Its a company thing, I'll let you know when they announce it. Should be soon. If it worked out, that would be SOOOOO kick ass.
Ha, sorry about that. I meant first week of NOV.
Not sure how I missed this convo. I'm always down for a vegas trip. You would think I would now have free time on my hands, but so far I've been just as busy. Just working on different stuff. Ack.
Are girls allowed at a bachelor party? If they are, would my fiancee flip if she knew which girl(s) were attending? If she would, would she forget about it and move on in a few days anyway? All good questions. Anyway, of all the chicks I know there aren't any who I would assume would be more fun at a BP than insom.
I attended the first half of a bachelor party. It was indeed really fun. I pretty much have no qualms with being a girl hanging out with boys being boys. The less talk about lipstick and shoes the better.
I have no doubt that many workout routines can be streamlined and made more efficient, but I do wonder about programs like these. As far as I know, rest is an essential part of exercise as is mixing up routines to challenge the body to adapt to new stresses. Personally, I've been thinking about joining a boxing gym close to my new apartment as my cousin joined one and has gained great functional strength, which is what I'm interested in more than aesthetics, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't exercise to look better too. Let me know how it goes. I know we're long overdue for an evox, but once I finish moving (and probably the first week of regular work) I plan to rectify that. I need to send one back to cW too.
The main thing with working out, so far as my experience tells me, is that there are a lot of ways to skin that cat, but they all have one common feature: you've gotta work hard. You need to feel your muscles hurting, and your heart rate has to go up a ton. I've always mainly been a weight lifter. Lately, now that I feel like an old man, I'm mixing in some running; it makes me feel good after, but man do I hate it at the time. I don't run distance, and I don't run for a long time. What I do is jog for five minutes as a warm up, then I sprint for 45-60s, after which I walk until I catch my breath. Repeat that for 20-30 min, and even though I may have only gone two or three miles total, I'm dead as fuck. It hurts. A lot. But I think it's got me on the road to losing the few lbs I would like to lose.
It's 25 minutes of working out with some cool down time at the end. It's also many different workouts, not just one. So, it does give plenty of variability and "muscle confusion" in to the mix. My aim is to drop some lb.'s and then I'd like to start doing yoga pretty regularly. cW will be glad to hear this -he's a devout yoga practitioner.
Craft beer (Natch) If I'm feeling like a good cocktail and it's not busy, and the bartender looks like they know their shit, Old Fashioned. If it's busy, and the bartender clearly can't do anything more than pour liquor over ice, Sapphire on the rocks with a lime.
I've inherited the "beer and bump" proclivity from my dad- one pint with concurrent tumbler of something amber, neat. Recently I've been going with whatever IPA looks good plus a bourbon- been on a Buffalo Trace kick for a little while. How's T-25 treating you?
I did p90x about 4 or 5 years ago and it was amazing. I was in the best shape of my life but it was just too much of a commitment time wise. Unrealistic in the long run for me. 25 minutes a day I can hang with. I like your dads "beer and bump" technique. I may take a page from his book moving forward. How's T-25 treating you?
Well, it's only been 3 days but I like it. I honestly can't hang with them completely yet. I find myself pausing half way through some of the things but I'm confident that in a couple of weeks I'll be able to hang. The key thing is that even after 3 days, I already feel better. More energy, clearer head and just better about myself in general. So far, I would recommend it.
