eightbitsamurai: Google's response to Mailbox
Cool, but: 1. I fucking hate those stupid videos with the shitty guitar strumming in the background. and 2. insomniasexx already got me a beta coin for Mailbox I bet it'd be better at organizing my shit without me having to look at it, though, just because Google owns half of my life already.
1. But don't you understand that your life will be better in every possible way if you just use the app? duh. 2. It might be interested if they do the get-things-done part right, like if I get Google Now notifications based on this app. On the other hand, I'm not the Inbox Zero kind of person, and most of the mail I receive is either hubski notifications or university notifications.
Damn. Google inbox really looks like Mailbox. Interesting.
Update: Got my Inbox invite, so I'll try and post my thoughts. I already wish there was a desktop app, like for Mailbox. But we'll see how it goes. Edit: There's a web version: https://inbox.google.com/
I'm all over this. I personally didn't like Mailbox for about 27 reasons that had nothing to do with it's "todo list" focus (mostly I didn't enjoy the design). I ran the Mailbox beta for a week or two, but found that I'd just switch back to the Gmail app. I signed up for an invite, hoping I'll get one soon. I managed to get into Google Domains, but after Wave was killed (I loved Wave), I stopped getting interested in Google betas. That's changed in the last month, though.
Oh has it? Good, I'd rather have a useful phone than an unuseful broken one. By the way, I think the Gmail notifications influence the Inbox notifications, because when I disabled my Gmail notifications, Inbox didn't work anymore. I've removed the Gmail app for now.
I found out that in the notifications settings, Google decided for me that I didn't need notifications for like half of my incoming mails. Turned it on, and...nothing. Have to check it myself. It's weird, when I had Gmail notifications on, I'd get notified twice, and now none. edit: turned on Gmail notifications, no Inbox ones. I swear they used to work before. What the hell. I'm on Android KitKat, on my Nexus 5, you?
What'd you do to fix it manually? Unless that's in the article, in which case, never mind, haha. But yeah, notifications are busted. Reinstalled, installed, sent google a help ticket and waitin on a response. Speaking of Notifications, mk, this may just be a personal browser issue, but notifications in Safari are frozen. They work just fine in Chrome, though, and the rest of Hubski works in Safari. Just notifications. Weird.
The sorting? I just hit the three-dot thing on the right, and for "bundled in" I change where it gets bundled into. Seemed to do the trick for me. Keep in mind, I do that on the web interface, though it seems consistent to the iOS app as well. My one issue is how it handles "pinned" e-mails. I want these to be liked starred e-mails in Airmail - ever present. I keep sentimental e-mails or important information there. In inbox, if you snooze or finish something, the pinned e-mail goes away ( :( ).
