For better or worse, Hubski's advertising strategy is such: 1) Rely on the sheer enthusiasm of a Hubski user 2) stickers. Hubski is like this giant intellectual hot tub where everyone joins and chills in a circle– the bigger it gets, the more empty area grows in the middle. I don't know how to apply that analogy effectively but I'm positive it'd be relevant!
Re #1 and #2 -I've never seen our "business plan" so effectively stream lined. Well done. As per the hot-tub analogy, I would agree with you that there is some value in your thinking there. My question is what is the ideal ratio of circle to middle? I always come to the 100k mark for some reason. It sounds HUGE but keep in mind how enormous other sites are. I feel like having 100k smart and thoughtful hubski users would be ideal. It could allow for branches of communities that are seemingly disparate but could overlap when the content called for it. I dunno. I hope to find out some day though. What I DO KNOW is that the idea of millions of users sounds awful.
