Todays theme as suggested by galen is Technology
Technology: from the greek meaning, art, skill, cunning of hand. It is the collection of tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures used by humans.

- EVERY DAY I will post a theme throughout December and it's my hope that we can all participate. Do not feel intimidated if you're not a pro or if you simply have a phone to take pictures with. I'm in the same boat. Past participants (Let me know if you'd like to be removed or added):
Not at all! It's basically an "everything you know about money is wrong" argument from an anthropologist who not only spent 3 years in Madagascar, but whose professional economic experience seems largely dedicated to opposing the IMF. I'm going to finish it before I recommend it but right now, I see myself recommending it.
I'n'I can hook you up. Barring that, so can most libraries. I decisively stopped listening to NPR in 2003 when they had a Marketplace article talking about how the economy can't be bad because orders of Learjets and Gulfstreams were up. I haven't missed it.
Interesting. I thought you were using all that, and that Jefferson seemed like an obvious choice, given that you could have used any number of presidents. A George W. Bush commemorative gold coin (which I know you carry around in your pocket for inspiration) wouldn't have had nearly the weight.
Best thing I ever bought myself. I can't wait to hear your album T. When do you anticipate having it completed?
I think i will have everything tracked by the end of january at the latest. It's nothing too complicated, just 5 or 6 songs with guitar and voice. After i get it all recorded i'm sending it to a friend to mix and that'll probably take some time, too. It's exciting stuff! I've changed a lot in the time that i've spent writing the album though, so a big concern right now is that the songs will be weird and not cohesive.
I recorded my first album over the span of about two years. Maybe more. I changed a lot during that time and the album was definitely all over the place, but I was able to add sounds and elements that I think help tie it together. Most notably, some string arrangements and the final, title track, to the album. I'm excited to hear your work, I have enjoyed what you have written and shared with me so far. You've got skills, what an exciting time for you!
Here's the secret to Roombas: 1) Watch the warranty. If they crap out, they crap out in the first year. At this point you exchange them. This started life as a $200 Woot 530. It is now a 531, the model you get for $99 when your $200 Woot 530 craps out after 11 months. 2) eBay batteries. iRobot wants like $129 for a battery available on eBay for $19. This Roomba is on its 4th eBay battery. 3) Keep them mercilessly clean. Every time it runs I dump it. Every other time it runs I pick its teeth, which involves an x-acto knife to all the hair the brushes build up. I check the brush bearings and the front wheel every time and generally clean the wound-up hair every 2nd or 3rd run. Sucka's been running multiple times a week for 7 years now.
