it's been a while since a question like this has been posed and I need some new music as I'll be driving a ton in the coming weeks for work. The album that most recently blew me away is still Sukierae by Tweedy.* -there's not a stinker on it and the flow is amazing. Great songwriting, great as a whole album and as individual tracks. Loved it.
What about you? What's your pick?

flagamuffin, ButterflyEffect, humanodon, sounds_sound T-Dog, ghostoffuffle jonaswildman, randomuser cgod and Owl -I'm personally interested in your answers.
The last thing I've listened to that fits that description would be Big Star - #1 Record, but the last new album I discovered for the first time that fits that description might be Speedy Ortiz - Foil Deer.
Oh the dogs I've worked blasting this Close second
RAM was a good cd, all of the songs were insanely musically repetitive though, and there were two terrible songs on it. I did have it in my car for 6 months after it came out though. I just think with Kenny Rogers and the crew they had they probably still could've done something more musically elaborate. Contact was awesome though.
Both fantastic albums - any love for Is This It? Also, as far as Daft Punk goes, their Tron album is also surprisingly good too.
The tron reconfigured album was amazing, the soundtrack was kind of just loops that when the remix artists made music with them sounded great. Alive was an epic tour/album, totally different direction for them.
http://carseatheadrest.bandcamp.com/album/how-to-leave-town and also just relistened to "the low end theory" by a tribe called quest & it is perfect
Wow, wasn't expecting to see this come up. Car Seat Headrest is too good...between How to Leave Town and Nervous Young Man I've been blown away by this Will Toledo fellow. Also long time no see!
Yeah this dramamine track is crazy, ButterflyEffect I screwed up missing this on your 2014 list
I mentioned this in the most recent "Music You've Been Into Lately" thread, but: - Blind Melon - Soup & (eponymously named) Blind Melon And other great albums I've been really into for months and months and months: - Soundgarden - Superunknown, Badmotorfinger & Down on the Upside - Toadies - Rubberneck
Do you mean years and years and years? And other great albums I've been really into for months and months and months
Check out John Grant's Pale Green Ghosts. Great songwriting.
Forgot this one
I think the hard part about this post is very few people are designing and making albums anymore, thanks to iTunes and the like , singles are kind where the industry is at and what people buy. There are still bands like Nero and the Glitch Mob that I buy the CDs before I hear them all the way through because I know they still spend time on making great albums.
So some are new, some are old but awesome just kind of what I am kicking around right now Songs:
Albums:
Walter Mitty and His Makeshift Orchestra's Well Soon really caught my ear. Awesome vocals/lyrics, and a consistent flow across the whole album. Also The Front Bottoms Talon of the Hawk is a great listen. Honestly, they capture something about adolescence that is really profound.
Not an answer to the question you asked, but GHXST makes great car music. Nowhere, Evilwickeddesire
