The Democratic governor of Colorado said that legalizing marijuana was a bad idea? Was it?
I know it isn't bad. I was just wondering what everyone thought.
From the article it sounds like he thinks it was a bad idea because Colorado was left to create an entire regulatory scheme on its own, with no model to follow or even any guarantee that the federal government wouldn't step in to shut the whole thing down at some point. So basically it's not so much "Legalizing Marijuana was a bad idea," but "Legalizing Marijuna first was a bad idea." Also he says in the video he was vocally against the initiative in the first place.
Why is he even concerned with the legislative process? It's not his job. His job is to enforce laws, not come up with regulatory procedures. This is just petty politc-ing. "It was a bad idea because I don't like it."
A 'bad idea', eh? I'm wondering how much of that thought is because of the problems that would be caused just because Colorado was one of the first few states to do it. The real problem, I'd think, is if people really thought there'd only be smooth sailing while going against the wishes of current government structures. It wasn't supposed to be easy.
