You might be dyslexic, since it is very similar to fonts specifically designed for dyslexics.

Lexia Readable is much uglier than Averia.

When I was a kid I used to love to take every type of soda from the fountain and mix them all together. We called it a "suicide"(not sure why). -The result never tasted all that good. Guess what I'm saying is, I agree... it's ugly. Probably shouldn't amass all the fonts together, sometimes the individual is better than the aggregate.

it has its own kind of broken strength I can think of a few uses for it.

I think that is is draw for me at least. The clumsy unintentional qualities that a designer would not include, the thickness of the middle collumn of the lower case m the tapered edges of the tilde.
I also like how it looks aged like it was printed with overused worn out steel type.
also the unintentional nature makes it less fussy than a lot of intentional fonts. it is certainly not the most annoying font. every font has its uses. http://www.hubski.com/pub?id=27706

Comic sans has clubs and forums dedicated to hating it.

Comic sans hate has always seemed like a profound waste of time to me. Appreciating great typography and critiquing bad typography are worthwhile, but Comic sans has been bashed into the ground so many times that hating it out loud is beyond cliche. Comic sans hate is essentially a bad meme.

It is the font you can say you hate and be sure that no one will call you on it.
