Your diary sounds wonderful! Like an artists notebook? There is one setback to doing it online...and that is the speed that technology changes and websites come and go! If you were to put everything from your diary online for the sake of clearence...and the websites went down, you would have nothing to show future generations:-/ Great-grandmar's notes would be on a funny shiney disk...now what the heck is this thing?

I think there are a number of setbacks to having an online "diary". The one you mentioned is the most troubling. What happens 50 years from now when all of a sudden my life's memoirs are gone?
But for me the hardest part would be the open nature. I write in my journal for me. Me alone. While at times I realize that perhaps future generations of my family will find interest in it, I keep even that out of my mind. This helps to give me a liberating space that no one else can penetrate. This is a necessary thing for most humans to have and we get far too little of it now. But yes, it is more of an "artists notebook" and that doesn't translate well to an online setting. To each his own though and as I mentioned I will look forward to reading your work.
