This seems like an awesome idea. If I can make a recommendation though, it might be to consider moving away from Soundcloud in the future. Not sure what options are available, but I'm sure there are some!
Soundcloud has been increasingly sucking, but I'll be honest: I still use it for my poetry recordings because it's the most popular/familiar option, and I need familiarity and ease if I expect to get any listeners at all. :-/ They started sucking a LOT for me when they removed the "record/upload" option from the app. That was a real telling change
I'm open to anything that can easily embed on Hubski and is easy to upload to and use. That said, I read the article you linked and don't see why it's a problem.
I try not to support Sony because I don't think they have artists best interests in mind, it's mostly a personal matter.
The adoption of Sony's catalog was the downfall of eMusic. They were the #2 music store on the Internet until they struck a deal with Sony, at which point they became more expensive, dumped half their indie catalog and updated their software to suck. They are now an also-ran that nobody remembers.
Got it. I'm sure we are all happy to use another option if it exists, is easy to integrate and is free. Right now we have a pretty substantial laundry list of updates, projects etc for the site though. But if you know of options, let me know.
