I'm going to blow your mind: I am kleinbl00.

Just kidding.

I do have a more than account, but I don't use the others except for the very occasional goofing around. Maybe once a month or so. I have two Reddit accounts.

I don't fault Alexis and Steve for doing what they did. I am well aware of how difficult it is to build an active community from scratch (and they even had Paul Graham telling all of his friends to check Reddit out). At least they are open about it now, although I doubt they would have been if you asked them in those early days.

On a side note, I view an account more as a tool than as a registration. Of course most of us choose to nurture one persona, but I think pseudo-anonymity is extremely useful. For example, if there is a Hubski conversation about child abuse, someone might find it worthwhile to make another account to share a personal story. The same goes for politically sensitive topics.

Btw, I do kind of miss kb. I didn't always agree with him, but I always read what he had to say.

I don't even think its a bad thing. It made a lot of sense. It was a labor intensive solution to a very tough chicken-egg situation that new social networks face.

As far as kleinb, he was very interesting, and despite the fact that I called him out on his (legendary amounts of) bullshit, I'd have no problems enjoying his posts were he here. I tolerated his rudeness towards me untill he attacked one of the other hubskiers (forget his name now). Can't help it. I just can't stand bullies. If he was thick skinned enough to hang around while getting called out berating and attacking other people I'd still be enjoying his other posts to this day :) Ah well, he could dish it out anyway.

I'd tell you my reddit profiles but I'd have to kill you.

I used to use "stevesmusichub" and created it specifically to post music. I should get back on that. As for the Reddit guys, I agree with you that it is incredibly difficult to build an active community. It must help to not have a day job ;-) I can't imagine having that many accounts. It's hard enough having time being "thenewgreen".

Anonymity is a good thing for sensitive topics, I agree. I also like that I have no idea what the majority of Hubskiers look like but I do know what they are passionate about. I have more conversations with some hubskiers than I do some of my closest friends. -To that end, I too miss kb, he was an interesting dude.

Remember when I thought you were alpha0?

I suppose its good to have accounts with that much regular traffic, and that level on engagement, but the dude lacked humility to the point of being comedic, not to mention his narcissism and persecution complex; no one is an expert on every topic, and I found his constant father-knows-best attitude toward every single conversation to be unbearable. I think the site is way cooler without.

Yeah, it's actually not his topical writing I miss, I'm just curious how he's doing. There were a number of things we had talked about that were of a personal nature and I'm curious how they turned out. I wish him well.

That said, I'm enjoying the crew we have right now on Hubski and some of the things going on: book club and the film club. Site is getting better all the time imo.

I wish I were eclectic enough to be alpha0.

There can be only one. He's like the Highlander.

No, I suspect that he is the Comte de St. Germaine.

Yes, but with a sword..... "of destiny".
