Over the past two days I've been in the studio with The Sextet, recording music I've written and arranged over the past few years. The quality of the music we created filled me with so much happiness that all I could do last night, lying in bed, was replay all the incredible moments we captured.
There have been so many supportive people throughout this whole process. From those who helped with the Kickstarter, the musicians in the band, concert goers, and those who have "liked" one of our facebook posts.
What we'll be releasing as been the result of countless hours of dreaming and hard work. The original plan was to release a nice and easy 5 track EP. I am happy to announce that because of our focused recording, along with the help of sound engineer extraordinaire Nathaniel Stoll, we will be releasing a full length album - 8 tracks just shy of one hour.
It seems impossible to count all my blessings because there are so many. The Universe has been provided me with abundance, and I am infinitely grateful.
The album will be mixed, mastered, and available on CD and online mid-July!

AWESOME!! Shout it from the roof tops buddy. That is great, I look forward to the day I'm able to follow in your footsteps and record something with as much gumption.
Haha yeah man! Do you have a group? What do you play?
I'm a lowly singer songwriter in the middle of nowhere northeast GA. Lol Athens is fairly close and typically provides a good outlet via an open mic when I'm able. I do have a few other friends that play, but everyone seems to be in a similar situation. Which is, we all play guitar (rhythm usually) Collaborations happen occasionally though. But it doesn't expand due to the lack of variety. Either way, I love playing and hanging out with others that do. Hmm. I suppose I should share a sample...I don't like to typically, because I'm my own worst critic and most of the vids are all self shot and focused on me directly. Humility is a crippling force at times. But the art must survive! Also, where can I find out more about your band? I'm newer on Hubski and I'm not sure how to check that out. Any links? Thanks!
Oh nice man. Well yeah, moving to a larger city definitely helps expand one's potential. Keep at it dude, definitely digging the tune! We're on facebook and soundcloud primarily. There are youtube videos scattered about here and there. Here's one:
Awesome! Jazzy, funky, groovy! Good stuff man. Me being eccentric and who I am, I'd be begging the sax player to hit that riff from Baker Street at the start of every session lol You know the one? I think I heard it in the movie lost boys for the first time, when I was a kid back in the day. Looks like you guys have a blast jamming though either way.
Hahaha, I don't know that Morgan (sax) has ever pulled that one. I'll ask him to next time though in your honor
There is no greater feeling than having composed a piece of music and have it come alive via the interpretations of your friends musicianship. It's even more thrilling when it happens live in a professional studio. The studio is a magical place. Congratulation B_C. I am excited to hear it.
Yes yes yes to everything you just said. Man, some real magic happened the past two days. But I'll let the album speak for itself in a month and a half!
shhhh, don't tell anyone about this. Here's an unmastered mix of one of the tunes. The track should be private so you can only access it through this link. thenewgreen, have a peek soundcloud.com/blob_hubski/the-sextet-left-of-center-unmastered/s-ibouX
Secret's safe with me. I loved it man! For some reason it's like super funky street jazz meets nostaligic Pokemon music ( In a very good way ).
here's a video of another tune that'll be on the album:
Haha thanks man, I'm glad you dug it. Yeah the fact that the piano line is played on a Rhodes and the line itself definitely brings up some Gameboy Pokemon memories!
Thanks man! Yeah I certainly could not have done this alone. Gratitude flows from my pores haha :)
