I was feeling some major Colin winds in Miami this evening. Pretty neat. Be safe!
I'm a little embarrassed to ask, since the last time I asked a technical question, the answer was so obvious. But I really want to join the irc and can't figure out how. I clicked the link at the bottom of the page that says irc. I unblocked Ublock and noscript. There's nothing on the page. Besides the top bar with my username and the labels, the page is blank. I tried it in both Firefox and Chrome with the same result. I found a link to the old chat, but it says that the chat had moved. What am I missing?
Try using Kiwi IRC directly <- this one has all the data required for login on proper server and channel, you just need to choose a nick and confirm.
I just missed you on channel :D. You were in the right place and I'm happy that it worked for you, although I don't know how I feel as an 'expert'. It was probably caused by your adblocker of choice to cut-out all iframes in the body of the site. There should be some option in filters to allow embedded content on Hubski. I can help you fix that. What are you using?
Thanks! At the moment, I'm only using UBlock Origin and noscript. I toggled UBlock to disable it after I clicked on the irc on the bottom. I also unblocked all the noscript blocks so everything on the page was allowed. Question: why would it work from the link that you gave but not from the link on the bottom of the screen? Thanks again for the help!
The link at the bottom redirects you to a Hubski website with an embedded iframe with same Kiwi IRC page. It was a different domain and these are checked and blocked because most of the ads use iframes for positioning on the website. iframe can be imagined as a separate 'tab' within opened website, just like YouTube videos are embedded on Hubski. It was working on direct link because it was not an iframe, it was a whole page on same domain. In NoScript options you can do this: 1. Open NoScript options 2. Go to Whitelist tab 3. Add both "kiwiirc.com" and "hubski.com" as whitelisted domains and it should work from Hubski!
Thanks! OK, tried that. It doesn't work. Your explanation makes sense though. I whitelisted both kiwiirc and hubski on noscript. It's still a blank page. There are a couple more scripts that need to get allowed on that page, which I did, but still a blank page. I'm willing to let it go since I can get to the irc from the link that I bookmarked. Hopefully, FuzzyWords can get to it from the link as well.
I can confirm it doesn't work, I don't think you are doing something wrong.
