What I'm listening to right now as the clouds commune for the daily showers: Slipping back into some Trevor Hall. Saw him open for Matisyahu in 2012. Couldn't tell what he was saying, but his rifts and style hooked me. Here's a track off his latest. I don't know why, but I keep thinking thenewgreen might enjoy bits off this album and the last, I'm willing to be completely off. Got into Nahko through T. Hall. This is a personal favorite I've been listening to a lot again.
Erika Wennerstrom's voice is something else live. She's maybe 4'11" and 80 pounds, yet she has the sage presence of The Mountain. I've seen them five times now, the first three is tiny venues, the last two in 1000+ person clubs. You really do need to see them live; they tour quite a bit.
Grateful Dead - Estimated Prophet I don't know why I got into the Grateful Dead when i was in high school, but I like them even though they're weird.
That's awesome. I've never met someone that prefers their studio work to their live recordings, ever. I know a ton of dead fans and never, not once have any of them put on a studio recording. So odd.
Strange, almost everyone I know feels absolutely the opposite of the people you know, but none of them are Dead Heads, just people who have big music appetites. The four albums I've listened too the most by the Dead. 1. Aoxomoxoa 2. Working Mans Dead 3. American Beauty 4. Blues for Allah They are all different, they are all strong albums. Songwriting is great, musicianship is excellent.
I like the Grateful Dead too. I'm not of a fan of songs that Bob sings, I prefer Jerry vocals. One of my favorite tunes: bgood79 just saw them play with John Mayer. -Interesting combo. He seemed to enjoy it.
CLPPNG - clipping. WARNING: this contains very loud noises throughout, so be carefully going into it. It's noise/experimental rap. The group is called "clipping." for a good reason. Self Titled - Oh Wonder Very chill electronic and pop duo, which contrasts very much from clipping.
Had a friend recommend clipping earlier this week. Really impressed by them. A fair bit less abrasive than Death Grips.
Mitski - Puberty 2. All of it. But especially this track. Can't wait to see her this week. Thinking about buying a ticket to finally see Yo La Tengo, but that's a bit pricey ($30).
Tatsava - Ancient Magic - constant rotation over the last week. Ott - Blumenkraft Reacquanting myself with this oldie. Maserati - Live on KEXP - not at all sure what to make of them - they reminds me of Jaqen H'ghar. I liked it though.
