    For instance, on The Grandmother, we didn't have a reverb unit, so we made reverb by putting speakers in the air ducts, and then re-recording them on the other end of the air duct-- doing that 10 times to get a real long reverb. It sounded really good, but it was just experimenting and getting sound to support the ideas.

That's awesome. Necessity, the mother of invention, often leads to greater things than the convenience of modern technologies.

Reminds me of the studio that Dan Deacon recorded Bromst in. They have an insulated cabinet with a hanging metal plate used to make reverb. The sound starts at one end, travels through the metal, and is picked up at the other end - reverb in tow. Pretty neat.

Funny, that tells me why the reverb plug-ins all have a setting called "plate".

Yeah, you showed me the album you bought. It's a good one, but a little inaccessible I found. Did you get Lost and Safe? The Book's best.
