Tonight I decided to make banana bread. I was inspired by <span><a class="ajax" href="at?id=forwardslash">forwardslash</a>'s <span><a title="http://hubski.com/pub?id=39645" href="http://hubski.com/pub?id=39645>crumpets</a>~. I riffed on a recipe I found on line and came up with my own version. Try it out: Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups mashed overripe bananas
1 cup lemon yogurt Instructions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas/yogurt until well blended. Stir banana/yogurt mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
Bake in preheated oven for approx 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack. This recipe essentially is exactly the same as <span><a title="http://allrecipes.com/recipe/banana-banana-bread/" href="http://allrecipes.com/recipe/banana-banana-bread/>this one</a>
It turned out to taste pretty darn good.
suggestion
While making the bread, enjoy a nice beer. I tapped in to a tall bottle of <span><a title="http://hubski.com/pub?id=39720" href="http://hubski.com/pub?id=39720>Hitachino</a>~ -inspired by the beer post I made yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying the others that were suggested there. Nothing better than good food and drink! Well... almost nothing.
There was so little left that it would have made no difference. Unfortunately.
So does my car, my guitar case and many a flat surface in Durham/Ann Arbor.
I love banana bread! Looks great. There's this beer my dad showed me which tastes like banana which might go well with it.
A beer that tastes like banana's might be a good thing but only if the banana flavor was extremely subtle imo. I'm not a fan of "fruity" beer. I'm definitely going to start making bread on a regular basis though, it was fun and it's nice to have in the house.
You're talking about hefeweizen - it's a German wheat beer which uses a unique yeast to give a noticeable banana/clove smell and taste. Lovely stuff. Weihenstephaner is the primary example.
Hefeweizen's are great. If I'm not mistaken, mk is a fan. They can be really good and they can also be a bit much for me. The good ones are great though.
