There's also this one, which has some specs on each planet and you can jump directly to each one, but it's vertical. I like the horizontal one because I get a better sense of travelling through the darkness of space.
The size of it actually creates a small atmosphere of creepiness. Very cool!
Totally. It's about what isn't there, as much as what is.

Good one. This one was posted a while back by eb. I like the perspective of it.
There's also this one from the famous Eames'. I could soak in all this stuff though, all day.
I love this. I think to fully appreciate the scale, you have to scroll with the arrows, not just slide it. :) Looking at this page, consider that when the Sun becomes a red giant, its radius will extend past Earth's current orbit. Unfortunately, the Earth won't be able to escape this expansion.
I actually counted the seconds while scrolling: ~ 13 seconds from Earth to Mars
~ 170 seconds from Mars to Jupiter
~ 210 seconds from Jupiter to Saturn i wonder what's the speed of the scrolling? If the distance from the Earth to the Sun is 8.3 light-minutes, then, if we were travelling at the speed of light from the beginning of the page, we should get to the Earth in 8.3 minutes. But we don't: we get there faster. That means our little scrolling spacecraft actually has FTL capabilities! Awesome! edit: Of course we're going FTL: earth to mars in 13 seconds? However, from the Sun to the Earth is about a minute, so it seems we're going at 1/8 of the speed of light. That's 37,500 km/s, right?
