Hey all,
Just noticed that Hubski has gotten a lot less traffic than I remember it having before. I see the regulars around here, but the posts that used to get plenty of comments garner quite a bit less. Just making sure Hubski is okay. I'd hate to see it go the way if the dodo.
Speaking as someone who’s been around for about nine years, it always dips down in the summertime. A lot of people travel and they have less predictable schedules etc. Once people stop traveling and head back to school etc. it gets more lively. Also, so long as mk and I have breath in our lungs we will keep this place running.
Good to see you two are doing well. I remember when I first started in here. I remember you were handing out stickers at one point. Where could I acquire those?
insomniasexx is the keeper of the stickers. Insom, Can you get some stickers to goldbludgeon?
Also you've only ever received 3 grand total for Hubski? I guess it is smaller than I thought.
There's an 'invisible' BTC address (19vVrqzbbLFKJL7ta9dvR7zX7uk6hdTWwU) at the bottom of all hubski pages that was once listed in the donations tab, but I suppose it's a leftover (mk?). Dunno about the exact details of using Brave (mk's link with sponsoring option), but since Hubski is one of Brave publishers, you can probably tip it that way. Open Brave, go to hubski.com, click that triangle at the right side of the address bar (Brave Rewards) and, presumably, go from there?
Post more! We're all responsible on some level for keeping this place active. The biggest challenge is overcoming silence. And overcoming the fear that you'll look stupid, uneducated, whatever. It's really hard because we all have bosses and jobs and all that boring stuff. But by commenting while you're on company time, you too can make the difference.
For me at least, it feels like there's a higher bar to contributing worthwhile content here, so I don't post or comment much. Life has also been busy. But it's still a cool place with cool people, and feels like a cozier, slower corner of the web to hang out and read.
Mmm, I haven't been visiting as regularly as I used to, but I often find myself reading posts on which I feel I'm too ignorant to comment.
Just put the hubski sticker on the side of my new (used) car :)
I've been a lurker now for a few months, and have to say I'm absolutely stunned at the consistency of intelligent, thoughtful discussion that occurs here at Hubski. My discovery of this place is owed to following the breadcrumb trail of kleinbl00's Reddit postings.
Welcome! And thank you, kleinbl00 for laying the crumbs. Come out of the shadows and join the conversations, StaticVoid. It’s a friendly place. Onward!
I will admit to a drop in my activity. hubski is one of my favorite places- but life takes precedence. I don’t claim to be any more busy than anyone else, but I can tell you - I’m moderately aware of a dozen “regulars” who are all still here - but so busy it would blow your mind. And I’m not talking about busywork busy - I’m talking about starting companies and dealing with investors. I’m talking about raising children with healthy habits. I’m talking about caring for ailing parents. I’m taking about surviving cancer and other life threatening illnesses. We’re all here. If anyone is like me - they wish they could scrape out a few more minutes per day to contribute - but priorities are what they are, and I’ve only got so many cycles. I still love you all.
Also, let people know about Hubski. Spread the word.
You know, I don’t know why there’s noticeably less traffic on Hubski at the moment. I know I’ve noticed the drop, but I can’t tell if it’s been a steady drop or if there was suddenly some event that made it obvious. Certainly my awareness of it was sudden, but what actually happened?
