I'm rediscovering OMNIA and enjoying Live On Earth. I'm also spinning the JJazz re-issue of Earth Mother. Sorry, new user = no links.
Thanks on both counts! Have an OMNIA YouTube and an Earth Mother YouTube.
I just become aware of Playing for Change. They are a non-profit organization, funded by a Walmart heiress, which travels the world recording local musicians performing the same song in their own style. Some 1,000 musicians in 50 countries have been recorded and the results are mixed together. Tons of creators have participated, such as Bono, Keith Richards, Robbie Robertson, etc. Money raised is used to build and fund music and art schools in less developed areas such as Nepal and Rwanda. Here are the first 2 videos I saw: 1. The Weight- Robbie Robertson (The Band) and friends: 2. Listen to the Music - Tom Johnston (Doobie Brothers) and friends:
Wow! scrimetime check out that first one. Gave me chills. Whoever mixed that is a wizard. Also, how can anyone not love Ringo. He’s an awesome drummer and just seems like the nicest fella.
I've been listening to: 1. S.E Rogie a lot. I heard one of his songs during the credits of the film Palm Springs. I dig this song by him, "Recipe For Truth and Lasting Happiness.". Sonic dopamine 2. Also from that film, "Palm Springs," I started listening to Luncheonette by Hall & Oats. Particularly the song, "When the Morning Comes." -What a great groove. 3. I've been listening to the album "Flower of Devotion," by Dehd. Have a listen. I really dig it all the way through. 4. And the surprise shocker is the new album from Duff Mckagan (yes, that same one) called "Tenderness." Introduced to me by ecib. It's a solid album that is very much of the times but not overtly so. 5. I also can't stop listening to the Coriky album. Particularly on heavy rotation is "Clean Kill." -This song is SO FUCKING GOOD. If you don't like it, then you should re-evaluate things. 6. But if I'm honest, the music I have listened to the most in the past few weeks is by far the songs from Hamilton. My kids loved the film version and they've been requesting the songs a lot. Particularly anything from King George.
I'm still reeling and catching up with everything posted in my last post. Aside from that: Lauge & Baba Gnohm - Rejsen: The animation is from the Australian short The Lost Thing which is a beautiful thing by itself but paired with this track it elevates it just a little higher.
So rezzeJ and I talked about septuplets a while back, and (maybe) The Algorithm was listening, because I have since stumbled upon actual septuplets in the e-wild, not G-rated sextuplets: Sungazer - DRUNK Shortly afterwards, The Algorithm then presented me with a neck-tatted frontman band. I wanted to hate the whole band (Polyphia), but I'm not fully capable of blindly disregarding talent, and the frontman is one of the most talented guitarists in the world right now at his age. Not sure how I missed him until now: Tim Henson - Blood Moon And now some old school pop from when I would browse new releases on Beatport, over a decade ago: Siriusmo's remix of Ben Mono ft. Bajka - Protection Peace everyone, hope you're well!
