I just become aware of Playing for Change. They are a non-profit organization, funded by a Walmart heiress, which travels the world recording local musicians performing the same song in their own style. Some 1,000 musicians in 50 countries have been recorded and the results are mixed together. Tons of creators have participated, such as Bono, Keith Richards, Robbie Robertson, etc. Money raised is used to build and fund music and art schools in less developed areas such as Nepal and Rwanda. Here are the first 2 videos I saw: 1. The Weight- Robbie Robertson (The Band) and friends: 2. Listen to the Music - Tom Johnston (Doobie Brothers) and friends:
Wow! scrimetime check out that first one. Gave me chills. Whoever mixed that is a wizard. Also, how can anyone not love Ringo. He’s an awesome drummer and just seems like the nicest fella.
