Starting a batch of mead using honey from my backyard hive.
Thanks. I love it too but have been slack, and not made any in many years. However, I am still very proud of the 3 first-place Mazer Cups that I won back in the 1990's. My best effort ever was a dry prickly-pear mead, it was pure ambrosia. The key is age - at least one year in the bottle.
Bees are one of nature's greatest creations! I hope you post more about your bees and your mead adventures, would love to read about it.
Thanks! I will be opening up the hive, tomorrow probably, for a check-up, and to add a new hive box for them - summer's coming on (down under, in NZ) and the honey production should be ramping up. They are certainly very busy! I'll try to get the S.O. to take some photos for me.
