Have an idea for a topic? Would you like to participate in a TNG Podcast? PM thenewgreen.
As always, feedback is always welcome.
I had made a post asking for ideas/topics for the next Hubski podcast but was already working on this one at the time. Now that this one is complete, it's time to pick a new topic and some Hubskiers to participate. Since we have a number of new users on the site, I thought that the next podcast should be one that gives insight in to the users and not necessarily in to a topic. That said, I love all of the ideas and will plan on tackling most of them moving forward. Thank you. StephenBuckley suggested the idea of doing a podcast on evolution and I have some ideas on how to tackle that large topic. -Thanks Stephen with a ph. (I'm a "v") joelg236 suggested "the internet", which is a very broad topic but one that we all participate in. -Could be a good one. harryjames mentioned "gaming", which is something I am not that familiar with which is all the more reason to do it. Lot's of gamers on Hubski, time I learned about it more. Plus bgood79 would probably dig it. Cortez suggested making it more of a discussion about the topics currently circulating around Hubski. -Good idea. It you find a specific trend, let me know. steve inadvertently mentioned "fun" and hiss seconded it and volunteered to contribute. -Holding you to that hiss. thefoundation suggested "The wonders of chocolate milk. College experiences/choosing a major. Favorite music/why. Natures effect on the psyche. Computers effect on the psyche. Something about monkeys for theadvancedapes". -A few gems there and thefoundation also offered to participate as did Saydrah. -Hope you two are still interested. sounds_sound suggested the topic be "your first family computer". -Could be an interesting discourse about how the role of the computer has changed within the family dynamic. Captain_Ozone also volunteered to participate and suggested "Sports, Animals, Architecture, Computers, The Brain" as potential topics. -All great choices and ones that I plan on tackling. -especially architecture. The next topic, as I mentioned above will be one that is broad but that can give us some insight in to our fellow Hubskiers. The next topic, as suggested by steve and hiss is FUN. What do you do for fun? Have an interesting answer? Want to participate? PM me. Thanks all!
I love all of those suggestions - great work, people! Other suggestions: 1. Your Favorite Song
2. Silence
3. Time and her divisions - how much time do you spend online? in nature? with friends/family/pets? What is the nature of time?
1. Your favorite song could be a really fun one so long as people could recount some sort of connection beyond the music. Or if they could describe why it is they love the song. 2. silence -this would be a really fun one to make from a production standpoint. I like this idea quite a bit. 3. Where do you spend your time? -This one scares me. I'd sort of rather not know :) -Which of course means its a good topic. Thanks littlebirdie.
Yeah, I love the silence idea, too. I've been thinking about it! If you decide to do that one, I would love to offer some of my ideas.
I second what thefoundation suggested about chocolate milk and college majors. Also, I think an interesting topic would be something you love other than a person.
something you love other than a person.
-Thanks for the suggestion B_C
Topics are just flowing now. How about: what was your happiest moment?
Or similarly, something that gives you chills. For me it's that beautiful part of Jupiter, or when someone speaks with such sincerity and passion.
Will do hiss, thanks. On a side note, I feel bad that I've monopolized this discussion with talks of the next podcast. Have there been any changes in your life that stand out?
Thank you so kindly for allowing me to participate in this podcast. I would love to participate in future ones, after others have had a chance, of course! It was fun - and difficult - thinking about change. Change is something we experience every day, isn't it? This weekend, in fact, was full of forced change, change I didn't like: School starts today. I completed my very first semester of college this past fall, at the age of 47. It was wonderful, even better than I thought it would be. I've had a lifetime of raising children, of scraping by after my marriage imploded so many years ago. I never thought I would get the chance to go to school. And I did! I want to finish! But! Thanks to breast cancer, thanks to unexpected medical expenses, thanks to missing several months of work due to cancer over last summer, I can't afford to go back to school today. I tried to sort it out, but I ended up spending my winter break selling some of my prized possessions on Craigslist. I hoped that I would get an increase in my scholarship money, but times are tight, and even though I have a 4.0, it didn't happen. So I'm withdrawing today. I can't work only parttime, attend school, and meet my bills. Wah. I'm looking for a job that pays better than the coffee shop and have put together my resume. But employers want to see a college degree, want to see a fresher face. And so it goes. I hope to be able to go back to school in a year or two or three. My sons were so proud of me! But this is life in a human body on the planet Earth. Change. It can verily suck. Yup.
I think this podcast has my favorite music. So great. Looking back at my original feedback from podcast #1, you've come so far! Yay! Also, I think I might be in love with littlebirdie. All your life stories are really inspiring and give great perspective to a young lady like myself.
I was very touched by mk's story about his father becoming a quadriplegic when he was a teenager. These events in our early years affect the direction of our family's life and thus, our own. Sometimes, looking back we can see the moment of change, where, as in the picture at the top of this post, we are forced to take one path and not another. thx tng for the podcast.
Thank you lil for participating. I thought it was an important topic. Sometimes it can feel like we are alone in our journey but after listening to this, my hope is that people recognize that hardships, tough decisions and curve-balls get thrown at all of us. I really enjoyed making this one and always like having you be a part of them.
Thanks for including me, it's great that you are pulling Hubski users into the podcast. :)
Sure thing cynthia and thanks for the badge. In the future we will be doing a podcast on "The Internet" and you'd certainly be qualified to participate in that one. I'll reach out to you then and hopefully you can participate. edit: mk just informed me that the badge goes to the "hubski" account because we post these through there but I think that this is completely appropriate given that it's not a singular effort but takes multiple hubskiers to put together.
I really enjoyed this one, it was diverse and the music beds were fitting! I have a couple of ideas for podcast topics, one being human sexuality, the other being dealing with your own mortality (be it religion or otherwise).
Both would be amazing topics, thanks. I particularly like the mortality one. It's something I intentionally don't think about that often. I might be afraid to open that door.... All the more reason. Thanks for listening ButterflyEffect, I appreciate your feedback. edit: btw, can you think of a change that really affected you?
