Submit whatever you like, the people who enjoy that content will follow you, the people who don't will ignore you. At the moment, I don't think you would get a huge following submitting NSFW content, but that may change as the hubski userbase grows. You would definitely get a lot of ignores from people who don't want to see NSFW content in their feed, and therefore you would not be able to comment on those posts.

I don't think there are any rules about the type of content you can submit - mk, could you confirm or deny? Hubski is all about cliques - people who follow each other and share each other's submissions. If you're serious about starting a NSFW community on hubski, I would recommend getting a few of your friends to sign up and start submitting that sort content as well. It's just like starting a new subreddit, except instead of trying to get subscribers for your subreddit, you're trying to get followers for your account.

Right now most of the users on hubski are all interconnected, as seen here:

It would be interesting to see what would happen if more diverse groups of people who like different type of content start signing up. Personally, I don't think my own hubski experience would change much at all, since I would just ignore the nsfw tag and any other related tags.

mk, did a nice job of explaining what our goals of hubski are regarding this here. If it is not content that could conceivably spawn thoughtful discussion, we're not really interested in it. There are plenty of places for such things out there, Hubski is not one of them.

If that's official policy, you really need to make that obvious somewhere, like on the submit page. I really despise unwritten rules. Not to mention, how do you plan on defining what constitutes "thoughtful discussion" and what does not? Furthermore, how would you enforce it? I'm not saying I disagree, after all, thoughtful discussion is what I personally am looking for when I use hubski. However, I do think actively enforcing such a policy would be a huge nightmare. It's the same kind of subjective language that caused me many a headache as a reddit moderator.

I thought the whole point of hubski was customizing your own experience - ie those who want thought-provoking discussion would ignore all of people who post humor/fluff, and those who just want a cheap laugh would ignore all of the "boring stuff..." and ideally, the two users would never cross paths. Am I mistaken in that understanding?

As I said in another thread yesterday, posts that contain uninteresting fluff will more than likely never be touched by us. The community can decide for themselves if they see that stuff. Posts that are porn will be eliminated. We won't try to dictate what is interesting, but we don't intend to be a porn hosting service. Period.

That's a much better, more objective rule, imo. Would it be possible to display something to that effect on the submit page?

I've been wanting to write a document about " Hubski principles" or something to that effect for a while, but procrastination has got the best of me so far.
