For me, the most important life lesson that I have learned is to laugh and smile a lot. It sounds really cheesy, and it kind of is, but ever a lot of my friends and coworkers have been asking me "jrod, why are you always so happy?" or "Dude, why is everything so funny?" to both of which I reply "I have nothing better to do than laugh and smile." Even on my worst of days, I still see the best in it.
What about you?
Eh. Sometimes you win some and you lose some. Occasionally, my teachers assign homework (like essays, tests to study for, quizzes too) all for the same night. I have to choose which are my priorities, because I can only focus on those top priorities and expect to do well, and then the rest of my lower-priority classes can expect a half-assed effort. Like I said, you win some and you lose some. Sometimes it's just not physically possible to "full"-ass something.
I've learned that asking questions is far more interesting than answering them. Every man is my superior that I may learn from him -Thomas Carlyle

Slowly getting better. Big week this week. Powering through a bunch of work and then off to Chicago to visit ElGuapo
Nice. Enjoy Chicago and have fun with ElGuap. Looking forward to this years Stanley Cup brackets. Go Wings!
Go Wings, indeed. They need the encouragement. Didn't even look like a minor league club last night. Btw, while we're on the subject, we could make a potential NC meetup start out at RBC center. I've got a great ticket connection there. I know insomniasexx is a hockey fan. We'll have to see about the dates.
Glad to see hockey fans on Hubski. I'm in Minnesota and a big Wild fan. We're looking good so far this year. But cups going to go East this year, everyone in the west has a tough travel schedule.
Oh it was nice to see Parise notch his first goal after the record contract and then the extended waiting period to see him take the ice. We're all super excited about Parise and Suitor. Heatly stepped up and looked great Saturday night and got a couple too. I like our team this year. I expect with all the new talent it will take some time for consistency, but they are hustling more than I've seen them in years. We'll see. Minnesota sports teams have a track record of starting out strong and then disappointing mid season. We'll see! Other than my home team I've always been a wings fan. Used to always go to Northstars/Wings games when I was a kid. Was a huge Federov fan. Only teams I really root for are Wild, Flyers, and Wings.
I'm planning on coming out the second weekend of April, unless another weekend would be better. I forgot to book my tickets since I was sick.
Hell yes. And I would like to meet this connection :)
Nothing is perfect. Ever. I was a real perfectionist and never wanted to declare something finished before I thought it to be perfect. A year and a half studying engineering has brought me to the conclusion that nothing can be perfect. While perfectionism is great when you do things for yourself, it serves no purpose in the real world. As Ze Frank said:
Also, a great question to ask yourself when thinking about this is "For whom does it have to be perfect?". Think about this and you will see what I'm talking about.Perfectionism may look good in it's shiny shoes, but he is a little bit of an asshole and nobody invites him to their pool parties.
It's very late but what the heck. Some people say that be ambitious, because you can't achieve much if you don't dream and chase those dreams. Some people say that you should be satisfied with what you already have because happiness and satisfaction comes from within. These two seem to conflict. But that conflict never felt right to me. But it's really oversimplification. If you separate past and future the whole thing seems very simple. If you are very ambitious with your past, you will be unhappy as you can't change that. If you are completely satisfied of how things are right now, you wont achieve much in life. Personally I like to remind myself that I have faired quite good so far given the circumstances. I should forgive myself most mistakes I've done in the past. And at the same time it's completely OK to aim high and work for my dreams regarding the future.
My father told - "Nobody knows anything what he is doing, so do everything you think that has to be done and do it well." This has proven to be actually true by my experience. Nobody is professional at life and only the idiots are always self confident.
1. Expect the worst, but hope for the best. 2. You only have one life, so don't waste it. 3. Treat others as you wish to be treated. (<not a life lesson, but sorta my personal philosophy (I feel like all ethical situations are covered under this, and with situations like the trolley scenario, then utilitarianism is what I go for)). If #2 sounds like YOLO, that's sorta because it is, but unlike YOLO, my emphasis is not that I only live once and "why not", but I only live once so I shouldn't do something stupid. So I ought to do actions that maximize my happiness because only live once, and I ought to do actions that maximize my lifetime so I can keep up my doing things that maximize my happiness. If that makes sense.
