- Through the magic of digital tweaking, the track’s minor key structure has now been transformed into a major key structure. Called “Recovering My Religion” the experiment is an odd listen, to say the least. Major Scaled offers the same treatment to songs by The Doors and Metallica.
So, an intriguing experiment or a bastardization of a classic song? Decide for yourself
This is pretty damn cool
Wow. What a great exercise. Sounds like it's just stretching the song at the minor parts. I LOVE that I HATE them! This brings me back to my undergrad music theory classes, when I learned about the phenomenological link between emotion and scale. Losing my religion would have been a flop that way, but of course R.E.M. would've never made it in the first place.
I'd like to hear "Stand" in E minor. That song would be way different.
Think that's jarring, check out their version of Nothing Else Matters.
"We don't suck at videos" - Michael Stipe, 1991
Good call. I think converts to the minor would prove far more interesting. It's 2:00am here, I'm off to bed. There's a couple more that they've made. Goodnight and Enjoy!
