Hi guys and gals of this wonderful community,
I've been spending quite a bit of time here recently, and I'm been missing several things that Reddit Enhancement Suite does - so I've gone and created a clone for Hubski.
Currently it includes: * Autoloading of new posts as you scroll. * Collapsing comments within threads. * Keyboard shortcuts.
(and probably a million bugs), but anyways, I've been enjoying using it since I hacked it together several nights ago and thought it may be useful to others.
I hope it's useful and I'd love to hear everyone's feedback, especially from mk, thenewgreen, b_b, akkartik and the other admins.
Also, I'll be using the #enhancement tag for for release notes & other relevant information - so follow that if you wish.
This is nice, Josh. thenewgreen has been pushing for infinite scroll for some time now. I think he owes you a beer. If you plan to keep the code in the same place, I'll link to it in our tools page.
I think you can remove my code while you're add it. It's largely redundant now, and I'll likely just add any features I can think of to Josh's repo.
Alright, so right off the bat I noticed this: If you aren't using the dark theme the keyboard nav is still in the dark theme. While it looks gorgeous if you are using the dark theme, it doesn't really work with themes like spring. One solution would be to make the keyboard nav simpler, with a generic outline that would work with all themes. But it does look really brilliant when you are using the dark theme so. I don't know. Perhaps using a semi transparent overlay so that it edits the color/lightness of what is already there? Otherwise it has worked pretty good. It's only been 5 minutes though. I'll let you know.
You're right, that looks horrible - noted in my bug tracker, I'll get onto that as soon as I can :)
you should include that timestamp script
the current revision of the timestamp userscript was authored by myself, look through the comments on that post and you can see the conversation. you can go ahead and use it, but it utilizes hubski's jquery, which is kind of out of step with the rest of your code.
Ahhh, got it - cheers minimum_wage, I'll definitely try and add that when I get some spare time :) And when I've tried to use jQuery before in the script it's been a bit of a pain (especially the discrepancies between browsers) but I didn't experiment for long so I might try and revisit that.
Ooh I love this.
I installed it and have browsed Hubski for about 5 minutes testing each of the Enhancement Suite's features. First of all, the Auto loading new posts while scrolling works very nicely, the new posts are loading extremely quickly, I'm impressed. The collapsing comments works great. And the unicode arrows are an improvement on a previous comment collapsing scrips I have seen. All the keyboard shortcuts work and are not difficult to remember. I'm really happy with the suite so far, thanks for putting in the work.
One more thing I'd like to see is a section in the user control panel devoted to HES which allows a user to individually turn on/off each feature of HES. For example I could turn off comment collapsing, but keep on Autoloading posts and keyboard shortcuts.
That is a luxury I know people would enjoy. Great work Josh.
all will submit to hubski but I meant a button on my browser to submit pages.
I think that link was supposed to go the tools page which lists the "Submit to Hubski" bookmarklet. Is that what you're after?
Josh, thanks. That's what I was going for. Have to slow down once in a while... though the "submit to hubski" button can be dragged to your toolbar and used for the same purpose, no?
Huh, yes they can indeed! You're quite right. I was under the impression that these buttons were just for embedding on a web page. Ah well, glad that's cleared up :) So, what purpose does the bookmarklet even solve if it just replicates the functionality of those buttons?
I just dropped the .js onto the extensions page and it worked. I'm not using Stylish though.
I only learned about it from my youtube downloading extrension: http://mandel-design.xf.cz/Chrome-Youtube-Downloader/ I have to download heaps of commercials for work for the mockups we do. Google keeps disabling extensions like these and making it so you it seems like you can only install from the extension store.
insomniasexx is correct - but for future reference there's Installation Instructions at the bottom of the README.
