Fuck it, I think these are fine. If everyone or if more people had that care for attention to detail the world would be great.
I see 'houses' from time to time that are so badly put together and detailed with mismatching and poorly fitting soffits or fascia or windows that you just wonder if nobody really gives a shit, and it's nice to see such a figurehead be anal about things. I got a kick out of that thing about the carpenter using good wood for the back, it's a nice idea really, no matter how annoying or inefficient it may be in reality.

Yeah absolutely. The middle seems to have been eroded quite a bit. I bought a Fed 3 camera the other day for £20. It's built like a brick though, and it's 40 years old but still going, whereas you see new digital pocket cameras failing all around. The kind of built in obsolescence is both infuriating and useful as it gives access to products that were prohibitively expensive before. It's a shame about the waste though.
I think the main example is printers. My friend needed to print something last minute late at night and just went to the 24h supermarket to get a new printer because it was cheaper than buying cartridges for the one he already had. Madness.
